What we focus on:

Headache:Headache originates from the trigeminovascular system and the cervical spine or the trigeminocervical complex. At The Gelb Center we look at all of the structures innervated by the trigeminal nerve: the muscles of the jaws, teeth, gums, TMJ, the clenching and chewing muscles, and those of the ear drums and eustachian tubes. The neck and shoulder muscles commonly refer pain to the temples, forehead and the back of the head (occiput) producing chronic headache and facial pain

Sleep Apnea:Gasping for breath during sleep, after breathing is temporarily stopped, is a very dangerous condition called sleep apnea. Someone who dozes off during the day and suffers from sleeplessness at night generally has more than just a noisy habit; they probably have sleep apnea as well. People with sleep apnea can stop breathing hundreds of times each night. Each time this happens, the brain triggers the person to awaken, ever so slightly, in order to resume breathing.
TMJ:The Gelb appliance, Farrar appliance, Gelb NYU and MORA appliances all reposition the jaw to decrease clicking and decompress the auriculotemporal nerve. Stabilization appliances are also used for myofascial pain and cognitive behavioral habit control. Orthodontic appliances can also be used in the course of treatment.
Snoring:Snoring is the sound that is made when there is an obstruction as the air tries to move across the soft palate. It’s a common misconception to assume the snorer is getting his or her rest. In actuality, neither the snorer nor their partner, if applicable, is getting any true rest. For those who sleep alone and believe they aren’t really bothering anyone, think again. The person at the most risk may be you. You may be spared the nagging, but the symptoms alone make snoring unhealthy.
